For Mini, KYCK isn’t just an event—it’s been a defining part of her faith journey. From first tuning in via livestream to making a life-changing decision at KYCK22, KYCK has helped her grow in her love for Jesus and deepen friendships along the way.

1. Please introduce yourself!

My name’s Mini, I’m part of Tuggeranong Presbyterian Church’s youth group, and I’m in Year 11. I’ve been lucky enough to attend KYCK four times (21-24). My first experience was via livestream, but since then, I’ve been hooked! I’ve attended in person since, and it’s always the highlight of my year.

2. What is a KYCK highlight?

Every year, me and four other friends would learn the memory verse and practice saying it one word at a time. At KYCK24 (which was the last KYCK we were able to all be at together), we finally got the opportunity to participate in the memory verse challenge! The memory verse challenge is really special to me, and we still remember all the verses from previous years.

3. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?

Growing up in a Christian family with my dad as a Pastor, I’ve always had a foundation in faith. However, in 2022 (Year 8), I was feeling really overwhelmed by school and friends. To be honest, I wasn’t spending much time reading my Bible or praying.

KYCK22 was a turning point for me, and I chose to follow Jesus for myself. I heard this amazing talk on Saturday night about how God loves us no matter what. It really touched my heart. I decided then that I wanted to commit to my relationship with God. I met some other people who were also committing to Jesus, and I got a little copy of the book of Mark. That was the first book I read after KYCK. In my KYCK booklet, I wrote in big letters: ‘GOD LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT’. Every time I see that, I’m reminded that being a Christian isn’t just about what I do, but about what I believe. Since then, I’ve been more intentional about reading my Bible and praying regularly. KYCK has also helped me build stronger connections with my youth leaders and friends.

4. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?

KYCK is an absolute blast! It’s an amazing way to make new friends or deepen existing friendships. You’ll get answers to your questions about Christianity and the world. Most importantly, it’s a space to grow your faith and relationship with God. Whether you’re a Christian or not, KYCK is an incredible environment that’s really helpful for refreshing your spirit for the year ahead.

6. How has being a Christian changed your life?

As someone who loves planning and organising, being a Christian has taught me to let go and trust in God’s plans (Jeremiah 29:11). Prayer has become a game-changer for me, reminding me that God’s got my back. The Bible has also been an invaluable guide for navigating life’s ups and downs. Being a Christian isn’t always easy, but it’s 100% worth it.
